Mike, Ellen and Jenny in Washington, D.C.

I took my kids, Jenny and Mike, to the Rally to Restore Sanity last Saturday in Washington, D.C. The three of us are Daily Show devotees, so when Jon Stewart announced the rally, we the faithful felt compelled to answer his call.
Standing on the Washington Mall, surrounded by 200,000 kindred spirits on a gorgeous fall day, we felt exhilarated. All of us smiled and made way for each other, as we jockeyed for position but minded our manners. So happy to be there. So proud of our purpose: to calm down the heated partisan rhetoric and return civility to the public debate.
